Multifocal desmoplastic fibromas of the mandible.

چکیده
Desmoplastic fibroma is a locally aggressive benign fibrous tumor of bone that has been reported in both the maxillofacial skeleton and the long bones. Desmoplastic fibroma of the extremities was first reported by Jaffe1 in 1958. The first description of this entity involving the jaws was reported by Griffith and Irby2 in 1965. In rare instances, multifocal desmoplastic fibromas have been reported in the extremities and the pelvis.3-6 We report a case of desmoplastic fibroma that occurred asynchronously in 2 separate locations in the mandible.

Case report of intra-osseous fibroma: a study on odontogenic and desmoplastic fibromas with a review of the literature.
Intra-osseous fibromas of the jaw are classified by origin. Intra-osseous odontogenic fibromas have odontogenic epithelia, while desmoplastic fibromas do not. However, it is often difficult to determine the odontogenic origin for central fibromas. Three subjects with a diagnosis of intra-osseous fibroma were examined. Case 1 was a 35-year-old man found to have a panoramic radiograph from the ri...
متن کاملDesmoplastic fibroma of the mandible: an unusual presentation and treatment
Desmoplastic fibromas are rare, benign bone tumours, which often behave in a locally aggressive manner. In the head and neck region they are most commonly seen in the mandible and have been treated in various ways. We present an unusual presentation of the lesion, which was subsequently treated by the less commonly used technique of enucleation, with good results.
متن کاملA Gigantic Desmoplastic Fibroma Resembling A Malignant Neoplasm: An Intriguing Case Report
Desmoplastic fibromas of bone has been described as a rare, non-metastasizing, locally aggressive, benign lesions that histologically resembles a desmoid tumour of the soft tissue [1,2]. It was initially described by Jaffe in 1958 who highlighted the histological resemblance to aggressive fibromatosis (desmoid tumour) [3]. Since his original description, approximately 150 case reports have been...
متن کاملGiant Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma of the Posterior Mandible-A Rare Case Report
Large, atypical peripheral ossifying fibromas are known as giant peripheral ossifying fibromas. These lesions have often been associated with heterogeneous clinical and radiographic characteristics subsequently leading to their misdiagnosis. Biopsies have been the gold standard for the diagnosis of such lesions. This study reports on an acute presentation of giant peripheral ossifying fibrom...
متن کاملBilateral synchronous ossifying fibromas of the mandible: a case report.
Ossifying fibroma of the jaw is a benign fibroosseous tumour. The growth of it is slowly and it is well circumscribed. Occurrence of multiple ossifying fibromas (synchronous) is rare in the jaw, and only a few cases have been documented. The most of these cases were in only maxilla. The fewer cases were reported in both of maxilla and mandible. We report a case of bilateral synchronous ossifyin...
